10 Benefits of working from home

working from home

Who wouldn’t be fascinated by the idea of working from home or a remote location!

I am sure the thought of leaving your job and starting something that give you a little more freedom has come across your mind several times. However your fears and the myths related to working from home over power these notions and prevent you from pursuing your dreams.

And they should.

It doesn’t matter whether you are starting WAH career part- time or a full time it is going to be a very important decision. A lot of research and planning has to be done in order to decide whether this path is right for you or not.

With that said, I am not here to put you off or discourage you to work from home.  There are actually many benefits of remote working.

Here are 10 reasons why you would actually consider working from home:

– Control over schedule

The biggest benefit of working from home would be the freedom of setting your own schedule.

You can customize your working hours the way you find feasible. This way you can actually make time for your family and friends while also not compromising your work.

Many people assume that working from home might actually decrease your productivity. The reason could be distractions leading to procrastination.

However I feel that’s not completely true. If you are serious about your work then a flexible schedule will open door for unlimited working hours. This means you can work whenever you want, for however long you wish to and actually end up making more money.

– More family time

Our children are the future and our most valued assets.

It doesn’t matter if you have a six figure job, with all the money in the world but no time for the people you love. That’s just a waste of all the hard work. People who work their asses off normally forget who they are actually doing all this for; the betterment of their kids and to provide them with the very best lifestyle.

However all your effort would go down the drain if you can’t pay attention to your kids, teach them the basic manners or groom them as a moral citizen.

Having a flexible schedule allows you to spend more time for the people you care about.

– Make money from something you love

One of the best aspects of working from home is you can turn your passion in to money. I am sure you would know many people who are actually earning a consistent income in a 9-5 job however they aren’t really happy with their job. The reason is they aren’t passionate about their work. Don’t take this the wrong way; there would be several examples of happy employees, working in a field they love. However, if you are not happy then why not pursue a career which satisfies you. Whether is writing, animation, drawing, photography or whatever.

– Avoid commuting by working from home

According to the data from statista an average American spends about $1500 a month just to fill up their car tanks.

So if you decrease your daily commute by working from home you will actually be saving heaps of money annually.

However this is not the only benefit you get from cutting down your commute, you save yourself from the rush hours and traffic madness

One day I found this video of a German guy who actually swims to work because he was fed-up of the congested roads and traffic.

I found this weird but could totally relate to his feelings. And honestly if I had a river on my way to work I would have just dived in as well. The thought of just spending more time on road really puts me off and I believe it makes me less productive. Science also proves this.

Thus by working from home you saves money and mental torture.

– Greater level of satisfaction

Satisfaction and happiness, both are directly proportional.  When you are doing something you love and are passionate about then you will also be satisfied, hence happy. This feeling of achievement and success will penetrate in all aspects of your life, making you more pleasant, more patient and a likable person.

Remember, money doesn’t buy you happiness, if you are truly looking to be happy then you should strive to quench your thirst for self actualization and development.

– Tax benefits

Well I am not a tax expert, however a big perk of working from home are the tax advantages you can avail. Normally if you are an employee for a company you pay taxes on your earnings. But if you are working from home you can get tax deductions by writing off equipment, supplies and even a portion of your home (as an office).  So now you will calculate you tax on your net profit (Total income – total expenses), thus helping you to save some extra money.

– Flexible working environment

You can work from ANYWHERE!!! Listen the reason you are thinking to work from home is to actually experience things that you couldn’t earlier. Part of this will be the freedom to work from anywhere in the world. As a remote worker you don’t need to be tied down in one location. You can be sitting on the beach, sipping a daiquiri or taking the great euro rail and exploring Europe but still be working.

I am just trying to persuade you to explore life while not going broke as well. there is much to life and because of our commitments and financial circle we miss out on living our life to the fulles.t

The other day I was watching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Oh man! The lessons you get from that movie are intense. The biggest lesson I think would be, not to fear the unknown. You might be comfortable in your shell, but if you stay that way you will survive but not live a perfect life.

– Be your own boss

Well it the title is pretty much self explanatory. When you start working from home you will only be answerable to your own self and your clients. You can work on your own pace, take time off whenever you will and make decisions that please you without thinking about the repercussions.

– Gain more knowledge & skill

Working from home helps you learn and refine your skills. While you are working remotely, you solely will be responsible for all sorts of work related to your task. You won’t have a tech team helping you out with your technical issues. This is where you would use Google and find out answers related to your troubles.

This exercise will make you independent , while also helping you learn a new skill which you lacked. This doesn’t just related to the technical aspect, however I will give you my own personal example.

When I started off my blog I had no idea how to make a website, how to work on Word Press, edit a theme, what to sell, how to write, in short everything related to my core business.

However with time, study and practical experience I developed those skills.

– Grow your network – keep in touch easily

A normal presumption about working from home is that you might lose your social circle. Well that’s not the case at all. This is the age of the internet and because of that the several different forms of new communications tools exist. You can literally be anywhere in the world and communicate effectively with just the power of the internet. And to be honest I think the newer generation is actually utilizing these communication tools more. They are in constant contact with each other over social media tools. Rather than getting lonely you will end up having more support and building better friendships.
